Reflections of Magic
We remember the magic moments, the special things that take us away - out of ourselves and our daily routines - and transport us to another place.
We remember what made our hearts race, what made us smile, and laugh, the things that made us feel different than any other part of our life did.
We all need things to take us out of the ordinary, to lift us out of the mundane and offer a break in our normal existence. We need that, and we love the people who provide it.
We love what captivates us because it lifts us out of ourselves. (And don’t we all need something to do that?) We associate feelings with physical things-maybe a look, a touch, a tone, a gesture, a scent that brings back a memory.
They resurrect feelings associated with that memory, feelings we thought were gone forever. We wish we could freeze-frame these moments.
If we could do a scene selector on our lives and just keep on reliving the good times, playing them back where we could live them in a continuous loop (or even just a few times a day), wouldn’t we, just to keep the magic alive?
If we could stay in the embrace that once felt so warm to us, so comforting and secure… if we could manage to retain the sense of being utterly loved, wouldn’t we just curl up and stay there?
If only we could hold on to the connection, that moment when we felt one with another person-known and knowing, understood and understanding, and being on a plane all our own-isn’t that magic and something we’d want to last forever?
We are never ready for the magic to be over. Even if all we can do is hold on in our minds, we do all we can to not let the magic die.
Make some "magic" happen today!
Until next time, Kim
